Frequently asked Questions...

  • Do I need permission from the local council to hire a skip?

Permission (in the form of a license) is only needed if the skip is to be located on a public road. Your local council will charge a fee for this which will vary depending upon the borough in which you live. In some cases, you will need to arrange a license before the skip can be ordered, in others, Woodside will be happy to do this for you providing you give at least 24 hours notice. Skips on the road must be lit and it is the hirer’s responsibility to provide the lights.

NB. Merton and Lambeth Councils need 5 days notice to issue a licence. Please allow for this period when ordering your skip.

  • Is there any waste that cannot go into the skip?

Yes. There are a small number of items Woodside are unable to dispose of. These include:

Asbestos, Gas bottles, Fridges & Freezers, Plasterboard, Tyres, TVs, Any contaminated waste

  • How long can I keep the skip?

Skips are hired for a period of 14 days. Longer terms can be arranged as required and loaded skips are collected upon request.

  • How do I order a skip?

To order a Woodside skip, simply call the office on 020 8654 3003 between 7.00am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday and between 7.00am and 12.00pm on Saturdays.

  • How do I pay for the skip?

Woodside Containers accept cash, cheque and all major credit and debit cards.

  • Can I cancel a skip once it has been ordered?

Woodside containers will refund cancelled skip orders in full, providing at least 24hours notice is given. If a road licence has already been ordered, however, the local authority will not refund the fee and you will still be charged.
